"The PC is stronger than ever"

News | July 4, 2008 (2 months ago) | by Zyuu | 通过 www.eurogamer.net | Filed in Blizzard Entertainment

In an interview with Eurogamer the CEO of Blizzard Mike Morehaime reject the claims of the PC being in decline as a gaming platform. Morhaime therefore is on the same page with Valves Gabe Newell who made a similar statement recently.

“Well, PC is the gaming platform with the largest installed base around the world. It's also the platform with the best margins. I think it's a great gaming platform.”

Currently Blizzard is focused on game development for the PC with games such as Diablo III and StarCraft II in development, but Morhaime does not exclude the possibility to develop for consoles again.

Best thing about PC's is that instead of having to buy the newest one every two years or so, you can just upgrade it. You only really need a new one every 5 or 6 years at the max.

I haven't played any of my consoles recently. Nothing interesting has come out or seems worth it. I have to agree that the PC is the ultimate gaming platform, as I would never pay $2000 for a console, but would consider doing so to make a PC.

You pay more because the PC is not just a gaming platform, its a general purpose system (something consoles are striving for now too).
