I will be going to college away from home within 2 months, and my parents are allowing me to shop for a laptop. I have been looking at many other forums and still have not found a concrete answer to the question of an affordable laptop that will run well with AoC. I have however, found two candidates that I am hoping can run this game, any input is really appreciated, and any suggestions to other notebooks around the price range that would run AoC well, would be appreciated.

I can't comment directly on any of the above, but I play on a Dell XPS M1710 laptop with a T7400 @ 2.16Ghz CPU, a Nvidia 7650GT, and 2GB memory (running XP) and it runs fine with low-to-moderate settings (was just playing the game this morning with this laptop from an airport wireless network). I also very recently purchased a 64-bit Vista desktop from cyberpowerpc.com and have been very impressed with the computer and playing the game at the highest settings. So, if I had to pick from the list above, I'd recommend the first (Xplorer X5-7800).

The only real issues you will have with a laptop are getting good video drivers and keeping it cool. Otherwise, with a little performance tuning in the game, you should be fine.

Good luck!

Thanks man.

I have been modifying my options and it looks like there are 2 key things that will help me run AoC best:
a 2.4GHz Core Duo Processor
and an 8600GT video card

it seems I can get these specs with everything else at cyberpower/ibuypower for around 1100$

I have Desktop pc with Quad Core 6600 (3000mhz) and 8600GTS and still i cant run the game on high.. only at moderate settings..and still on some places i have to even lower the settings in order to be playible. if you can go for a better video card.
